Is there a way to replace a SCSI controller card with one that is a
different model without reinstalling XP? I currently have an Adaptec 19160
controller card and attempted to replace it with an Adaptec 2100S RAID
controller card but have been unable to boot XP successfully. It either
loops through the reboot process or gets as far as the screen menu that
comes up when windows has been shut done abnormally (so I know it's reading
off one of the drives). For what it's worth, Adaptec says XP has the drivers
necessary for the 2100S. Is there some trick to getting the existing XP
install to boot normally once the 2100S card is installed? TIA...

Try putting the original controller in...
then uninstall it from within the control panel...

shut down and put the new one in

If the BIOS is set ok,then you'll need to reset the 2 drives in the new
RAID configuration utility prior to booting into xp,even though the 2 hds
will
probably show as a set.
