Post subject: Renaming a profile
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>configuration_manage (more info?)

Hi there...
As a joke, I set my wife's profile up as "Boss".
After she let me back in the house, I tried to change it back to her real
name, but got a message saying the user name can not be the same as the
computer name. I checked in System, and there was no computer name, so I
called it Family. Then I created a new profile under her name. Instead of
just using the folder with her name already there, called Documents and
settings now has a folder called Jane.family. None of the other users have
the ".family." I had to copy all her files from her previous folder into this
new folder, and it is working.
My question, then, is how do I change the name of a user so that it also
changes the name of the folder in Documents and Settings? Where did I go
wrong in the renaming? How can I rename the jane.family to just jane?
Thanks for any tips...
John
