Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>work_remotely (more info?)

I dowloaded the XP remote desktop software on my 2000 pro machine, and I am
able to access a XP machine from the 2000 machine, however, I cannot access
the 2000 machine from an XP machine. This might be due to the fact that I
cannot find the remote tab in control panel/ systems that enables the 2000
machine to be accessed remotely.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks

You downloaded the Remote Desktop client software.
Win2K and XP Home do not support being a Remote Desktop host.
You will need 3rd party software to make a Win2K machine a host.
pcAnywhere is a commercial one. There are several free programs
available. A Google search should find them for you.

I always recommend UltraVNC with its XP/W2K video drivers and the encryption
plug-in among other features...

I'm using the free version of RealVNC with the server on the Win2K system
and the Viewer Client on either of two XP system. Works Great!

Get it here: http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/download.html
