The short answer is you need something other than Remote Desktop to access/control an XP Home box.
One alternative is UltraVNC. Get the server, client and encryption plug-in from...

If your asking if you can use the Remote Desktop client on an XP Home box to access/control an XP
Pro or Windows Terminal Server, then the answer is yes...
