I am getting the error message: The application or DLL
C:\Windows\system32\mshtml.dll is not a valid windows image.

I cannot access the internet. This occurred with Java was going through an
update and I added RAM. Not sure what else triggered the problem. It was
not there previously.

Try temporarily removing the new RAM and see if that resolves the
issue. Defective RAM modules and even RAM modules that are not
totally compatible with each other can produce these types of errors.

Good luck

I removed the Ram after getting all sorts of strange messages and startup
problems. The result is now I am only getting this one message when trying
to launch an internet browser.

I would try Start, Run, type "sfc /scannow" without quotes
and hit Enter.

Thanks. Is there anything else needed to be done after the file checker has
completed?

Did SFC resolve the issue?

Hi BigDogR - Yes, when sfc completes, check your Event Viewer (in
Administrative Tools) and see if there are any event messages indicating
that a component was replaced/restored. If so, then you'll need to
re-register that component (.exe, .dll, .ocx, etc.) using:

regsvr32 i <full component name with extension> from within a Command
window opened in the

%SystemDirectory% (probably c:\windows\system32 assuming you're on XP).

If the component is installable, then you should get a successful completion
message; otherwise, an appropriate error message. If you get an error
message "Load library (i) failed, then re-run the command without the i to
just register the component.

regsvr32 <full component name with extension>
