Post subject: Get Problem Free PC Performance With Windows Registry Cleaner
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>basics (more info?)

Windows registry cleaner should be regularly used to keep the PC
registry up to date and free from errors. Window registry is database
file maintained by the Windows operating system to keep the software
and hardware configuration and system settings of the computer.
Windows registry is a more organized way of storing the vital
information as the system can access them in less time and with better
accuracy. Microsoft introduced the registry in their Windows 95
version. In previous versions of Windows these information about
system settings was stored in the INI files. As these INI files were
stored all over the hard disc in a scattered way, it took the system
more time to access these data that made the system slower.
As Windows registry is meant to store the settings of the PC it
generated a new entry each time you make any changes to your PC
settings through the control panel and install or uninstall a program.
As you keep using the PC that requires you to make regular changes to
the PC settings, the number of registry entries keeps on increasing.
All these entries especially the outdated and old entries are no
longer used by the system. For better performance of your PC you
should remove these unimportant entries with a Windows registry
cleaner....

Think your Registry needs "cleaning"? Read

Terrible advice, in my view.

Registry cleaning programs are *all* snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

That, of course, is a lie.

True.

"More organized" than what?

Spam deleted. (And reported, as well.)
