Disregarding security measures, what is the best method of sharing printers,
through an auto switch or over the Internet. I am talking only about two
home printers and therefore am not interested in a printer sever. One
computer is using Win XP Home Edition and the other one Win98SE.

Like most people, I would say go through the LAN as a shared printer but with
one caveat. I have two printers connected to my desktop, and the laptop in the
house connects to them through the wireless LAN. One of them works beautifully
and transparently that way. The other printer however has very little memory
and seems to do a lot of handshaking with the host that really slows down the
desktop when it runs -- which is mildly aggravating. It doesn't get used much
though.

Personally I'd just do it through the LAN and try it. You've got nothing to
lose. If you're unhappy with the performance then you can consider putting more
money into a different solution.

Good luck...
