"Print to File"
I am confused! What does this mean? Do I click on print? If so why not just
"Print"??
Or "Copy" and "Paste" a document into a folder or file?? How do you "Print"
a document of file into another file??
There`s one in every village. It`s my turn today. |

Print to file creates a special type of file understood by printers - a
..PRN file. Useful under certain circumstances. Example: The target printer
is not hooked up to a Windows computer.
Learn more here:
http://www.frogmorecs.com/arts/what_is_a_prn_file.html
When installed, some programs will add variations of this old time menu
command such as Adobe's "Print to PDF" or Office's "Print to MS Office
Document Image Writer." The output for one of these commands is still a
file but not of the .PRN type.

"Print to File" literally means what it says. It creates a file on your HDD
instead of sending the data to the printer. |

When you select the Print To File option and then click the Print Button,
you should be prompted for a file name. On the File Name dialog box, use the
drop down menu for "Save To" and select the folder where you want the file
saved.

When I click "Print to File" in my Print dialog box I get a window up that
asks me to name the *.prn file and to select a location to save it to. |

Right...But when I go through the motions, there is nothing there.
Does PTF only work with certain file formats?

Not sure why it won't work. I guess I'll have to do a little research on
this one.

Your using XP Pro, but what "program" are you trying to print from? Are you
trying to print from a text editor program, a picture from an imaging
program or..........?
What is the type of printer that you are using?

OK. Open the file, and click on "Print". When the print dialog box comes up
there should be a little box that says "Print to file". Click in the box.
(It's on the bottom right-hand side of the top box marked "Printer")
