I am running XP SP2 with a local network with four computers, 3 wireless
laptops and 1 desktop connected to the router with an ethernet cable. My
printer is an HP 7310 all-in-one conected to the network through an ethernet
cable.
Everything worked fine until I recently applied several WINDOWS updates in a
batch to the desktop only.
Evey since then I have had two problems. I cannot hibernate the desktop -
receiving an error message saying there are insufficient resources to
hibernate. I can however turn the machine off in the normal turnoff manner.
This is aggravating, but I can live with the problem. I mention it because
it seems to be a symptom of the larger problem.
The larger problem is printing from the desktop has been very, very slow, if
at all since the updates. The laptops print just fine wirelessly. When I try
to print from the desktop, the printer connects and then prints one or two
lines and then stalls. I suspect a spooler problem on the desktop, which
might also relate to the hibernate problem.
How do I diagnose this problem and what are the potential fixes.
Thanks.
