Post subject: Notification Area Icon Missing After SP2 Install
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>configuration_manage (more info?)

I recently started with a clean install of XP. Performed all the updates as
prescribed through windows update and then started loading apps again. Now
that SP2 is installed, programs such as Intel Active Monitor and SoundMax
Cadenza do not show up in the notification area anymore. I can CTRL-ALT-DEL
and see them running under the services tab, but they stop loading into the
notification area. I checked the basics, hide inactice icons and the like.
No change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Akamaitek,

I've had the exact same problem..

If you follow the other posters link and then go down to:

Disable SSDP and uPNP Services (Line 156)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

I used this tweak, and everything again shows up in the notification
area.

Regards Leif.
