Post subject: Network Printer Issues
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>print_fax (more info?)

We have been experiencing some difficulties with some of our workstations
connecting to printers on our domain. All workstations are on Xp SP2 and all
printers are on a single Win2K3 server.

When trying to add a printer to a workstation, users are receiving errors
indicating they do not have sufficient access to connect to the printer. When
an administrator tries to install the same printer they receive an error
indicating the server does not have the correct driver installed. These
errors occur regardless of the type of printer.

Other workstations of the same type on the same subnet are able to connect
without issue. We have verified the permissions on the workstations are
identical as are the network settings, save the static IP addresses.

The event logs of the workstations that are unable to connect to the
printers include event ID's 1110 and 1102.

As part of our troubleshooting we have; rebooted the workstations, placed
the workstations in DHCP, modified permissions to the system root
directories, replaced files in the system root directory, renamed the
workstations, removed and readded the workstations from/to the domain, tried
installing the printers locally, updated all drivers on the print server,
rebooted the print server, replaced the NICs, moved the workstations to known
good network drops, rebuilt the workstations from ghost images, basically
everything except the 30-foot drop test.

Any insights / comments / suggestions / rants will be appreciated.
