NTLDR missing, Boot order Freezes

Definitely call Dell. Afterall, who should know more about your PC?

Besides the BIOS password, they may be able to instruct you how to fix or
restore the PC.

But, WARNING, most computer manufacture's concepts of "restore" mean (1)
erase hard drive, (2) re-install an image of the drive as of the day they
shipped it to you. In this process you will lose all personal files and
programs installed after receving the PC.

Thus, before calling Dell, you might want to "rescue" your files. I highly
recommend KNOPPIX, a free LINUX download that runs from a single CD (or
DVD). By default it will not write to the hard drive, so it is safe. You
can over-ride that default, if necessary to make some repairs. KNOPPIX
supports external hard drives, like USB 2.0 and firewire, and it can read
NTFS partitions (default type for XP). The download is large, about 700 Mg,
and is in the format of an "ISO" file. The ISO fil must be burned to a CD
(or DVD) with a program like Nero or Easy CD Creator, which has a "burn CD
from image' option. You an not just drag&drop an ISO file to CD:

By the way, it is always possible to remove a BIOS password. It varies from
PC to PC, but usually involves either removing the battery for 10 seconds,
or temporarily installing a jumper and rebooting. Dell should be able to
tell you how to do this. Do NOT experiment without their advice, as that
may damage the PC, permanently!

has some tools to fix some things in its recovery console:

I can't boot up my DELL Inspiron 8200 notebook becasuse of "NTLDR is
missing".

I check the BIOS, the boot order is 1) HDD 2) CD/DVD Drive (No Diskette
Drive)

I can't modify the boot order, there is a msg "Configure Setup is
Disabled"
what should I do? will updating BIOS resolve the problem? (currernt
BIOS version is A06)

Do I need the Admin password in order to modify BIOS info. The Admin
password is enabled. How can I get the password? Is Dell hold the
information?
