Post subject: Monitor out of range after using remote desktop
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>work_remotely (more info?)

I've cross posted this here from Help & Support as I've had no replies or
hints. I'm hoping I'll have better luck here. Smile

I'm using XP Pro -> XP Pro and have no issues with actual Remote Desktop. I
can log into my work PC flawlessly and use it remotely without issue.

The problem I'm having is, when I return to the office every morning, the PC
I've used the night before is at the normal User/Password screen, and the
moment I provide my credentials, the monitor goes "Out of Range".. and I'm
forced to hit the power switch to initiate a shut down.

My PC and several others with LCD's will do this with Remote Desktop. There
is no change in resolution and I have tried both the generic PnP LCD drivers
as well as the manufacturers drivers. This looks like something with Remote
Desktop as this is the only thing that causes this.

It should also be noted that there is no resolution or frequency change in
the access. My work desktop is at 1280x1024 @ 60hz, and my home PC is also
at 1280x1024 @ 60hz.... plus I access Remote Desktop with 1280x1024 setting,
so it's not a resolution change.

Any tips, insights or hints? I'd rather not ditch the LCD I have, plus this
is becoming a growing problem with all the LCD users that also use Remote
Desktop. Thanks in advance!
