Due to instability problems I re-installed XP, but, as there was some
urgency I didn't do a clean install. I intended to do the job properly the
following weekend and re-format the system partition. As the PC was
completely stable, and still is after two months, I never did the re-format
and just let it run.
A week ago I received a warning message about low disk space on the system
drive and on checking found that there was approximately 4GBytes missing on
the 10GByte partition. I've been unable to find what is taking up all that
space despite going through the drive with a fine toothcomb.
The only thing that I've found which is suspicious is a folder in docs and
Setting which has the name of my old pre-reinstall account. This folder
shows zero content and is not accessible, even in Safe Mode. I even tried
to access it using Bart's PE but no joy. Is it possible that this folder is
taking up all that space?
System = XP Pro SP2 fully updated. AMD Duron 900MHz CPU 512Mbytes RAM
Can anyone advise please? |

Have a look at the post "Where are the files hiding". It asks an
identical question and was posted in this newsgroup five hours

Pegasus,
You are doing Rock's job as he is the one to complain of multiple posts. What
will he have to do now?

Fine, I'll let him do it from now one. At the same time I'd like
to mention that my reply was not meant as a "complaint" but
as an encouragement to the OP to look for similar questions
posted recently. Pasting a couple of links to folder size tools
would have taken me less time than writing my little note.

I sometimes wonder if a few of these people even know to
come in from the rain.
