I'm running Windows XP and am trying to uninstall, repair or re-install
Office Basic or Office Pro 2000. I am continually stopped by
"Error:1913. Setup cannot update file C:\WINDOWS\win.ini. Verify that
the file exists in you system and that you have sufficient permissions
to update it." I have verified that the read only box is not ticked. I
am trying to run it as Administrator. I have changed the file name from
win.ini to win.old and restarted the pc, tried to install it and still
get the same message. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Jeanie K

Perhaps you should ask the question in a Office newsgroup.
