Post subject: Loss of Profile after hibernation
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>perform_maintain (more info?)

I have Windows XP Pro - SP3. I always do my updates.

Recently I encounter a problem (not always but often enough to be very
annoying). When I am not using my computer (if I go out or overnight) I put
it in hibernate. Sometimes when I open it it is like a first opening and I
get a message that it is unable to find my profile. In practice what this
means is that
- the startup link for My Documents has been shifted from where "My
Documents" is to a Temp/"My Name" folder and there is nothing in it beyond
the basics - the sample My Music, My Pictures folders/files but not "my"
stuff.
- Whatever settings were there for my desktop wallpaper are gone.
- My Outlook information is also gone and I have to reinstall my ActiveSync
and sync with my PDA to get everything back.

As I said, this is annoying:(

Is there a cure for this? I would be grateful for any information.

Mary
