The subject mentions "Installing Windows XP", but you then discuss an
"Office patch package". Although there could be an Office patch
available from Windows Update site, it may not install to a damaged
install of Office. Do you have a CD with Office? If so, reinstall that
first, then try to get the patch again. If Office came with your
original computer purchase, there may be a CD or DVD that has the
different software packages and it will have to be run also.

If you can't reinstall Office, and don't want to purchase it, _try_ the
free http://www.openoffice.org package.
