Installing Windows 2000 Professional on my other partiton

The guide that you have provided says

<<"Backup NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM

<<1) In Windows XP, open Windows Explorer and locate NTLDR and
<<NTDETECT.COM in the root directory of your boot drive. These are usually
<<Hidden files, so you'll have to adjust your Explorer options to show them.
<<2) Copy these files to a blank, formatted floppy, or other location that
will be <<available after the Win2K install.

May i know where is the folder that contains NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM? I know
I have to adjust Windows Explorer settings to view hidden files. Also, my
floppy frive is faulty. Does "other locations" means that I can copy the two
files into a CD?

NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM are in the root directory of the boot drive,
typically C: drive. Open the icon for C: drive via My Computer or Windows
Explorer. You will need to adjust the settings not only to Show hidden files
and folders but also to uncheck the checkbox beside Hide protected operating
system files and click on Yes in the Warning dialogue box.

Yes, you can copy the two files to CD or to USB drive, it does not have to
be a floppy disk that they're copied onto.

You would copy the files to the root directory of the boot drive, typically
C: drive, no matter if it's XP or 2000.

It looks like I can confidently install Windows 2000 Professional in adition
to my Windows XP Professional but Windows 2000 requires WGA validation too.
Will I get into trouble with Mircrosoft regarding licencing problems?

You would only have a licencing problem if you have a single licence for
each operating system and have them installed on more than one computer.
There is no problem with having two different operating systems installed on
a single computer.
