Post subject: Home folders not displaying usernames
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>general (more info?)

I have a folder (G:\UsersFiles) with all the user's home directories (for
example called G:\UsersFiles\edward), but Windows Vista and Server 2008 are
not displaying the folders as the usernames, but is virtually renaming them
to "Documents".

I don't want all these folders called "Documents", I want their real names
to display instead.

How do I fix this?

Go to:
C:\Users\<username> (start/run, type : %userprofile%)
Rename the "Documents' folder to '<username>'s Documents

Oh no!

There must be an easier way than to rename all the folders to display their
real folder names instead of the word "Documents" and to make sure that new
folders containing users' files are also not called "Documents"?

Thanks for your suggestion! Smile

Replied to your post in vista.file_management

PS to my post there:

Did you redirect you user's Documents folder to this folder? That is most
likely how they acquired the desktop.ini file for the 'Documents' folder.
