Each time you click on frolder in explorer that has alot of subfolders and
files WindowsXP is reading all files and folders located there and lags
significantly, basically window freezes for few seconds.
I checked using Filemon tool and explorer actually reads every file inside
sellected folder thats causing problems.

How can i disable this and why suddenly xp started to do it, there was no
such thing on windows 2000 if i remember correctly?

Control Panel - Folder Options - View tab
Uncheck "Show Pop-up description for folder and desktop items"

Good Luck, Ayush.

..avi files?

Avi files have a bug in XP. XP thinks that it has to read through every avi
file every time that you open a folder that contains any. You also get the
locked file in use when trying to delete, rename, move, etc. avi files.

See this on the fix.

How to get rid of "Locked AVI" Bug in Windows XP
http://riccardo.raneri.it/blog/eng/index.php/2006/04/28/how-to-get-rid...-locked

The only down side to the above fix is that when you right click an avi file
and select Properties, the Summary page will be blank or grayed out. Which
I decided was a lesser evil than some of the other problems .avi files
cause.

Nah thats not the issue, i still getting this reads, it reads trough all
content of folder including subfolders and files when i sellect folder in
explorer, and i want to disable that because some of my folders have deep
structure and it lags me. I belive Show pop-up description for folder and
desktop items have nothing to do with it.
