Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>basics (more info?)

I uploaded the latest XP changes the other day. After, I started to receive
several Zone Alarm Pro alerts warnig me that internet explorer was trying to
connect to the internet and woulf be tracking keystrokes, etc. I denied the
access and clicked on the remember for future trys button. Immediately,
statred to recein=ve the following message "Windows cannot access the
specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions
to access the item". This applies to everthing as long as I have the
Firewall turned on. I can get to my e mails after turning Zone Alarm off,
but my shortcut to the internet cannot be accessed directly - have to use a
link from an e mail. HELP!!

If you expect to use IE to access the internet, you must allow it to
connect.

Note, that ZA considers an upgrade to any program as fundamentally a new
program.
