I am running XP sp2 and I would like to be able to set the default
columns for some folder to include various details about audio files
but in other folders I want details about photos and in yet other
folders I want details about documents.
It seems to me that I naturally have classifications of types of files
I want to see and the columns that matter when I am viewing that kind
of folder.
Audio Files - Duration, Bit Rate, Title, Author.
Photo Files - Dimensions, Date Taken, Camera, Shutter Speed, Aperture.
Documents - Author, Keywords, Subject
Is there a way to set a folder and it sub folders to contain specific
columns without having to apply it to the entire system? In my
systems, I usually have tree structures for Photos, Music, Docs where
they are not mixed together. So I could use this if I could go to the
highest level a set the columns and apply it to all of the children.
This seems like it should be simple, but Ican't find a way to do it.
Thanks,
Thom |

Control Panel > Folder Options > View and scroll down to Remember each
folder's view settings and check the box. This will save the different
settings for each of the folder views you select.

Hello Thom,
If you have a folder with sub-folders with different types of media
files:
Right-click on the folder and click 'Properties'.
Click the 'Customize' tab and then the drop-down box 'Use this folder
type as a template' and choose your template. |
