Post subject: Desktop background
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>customize (more info?)

When turning on my computer my desktop picture is obscured by a grey plain
screen, the application icons are still visible.
I have tried to change by going into Control panel > Change desktop
background and changed the background successfully, the grey screen still
appears.
The only other time I see the desired desktop picture is when I shut down,
the picture appears for a few seconds just before switching off.

Lanky, rt click Desktop>select Properties>Desktop. In the color box
lower rt does it show grey? If yes, go to Kelly's
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm Select W and download
the Enable Wallpaper changes fix.

Open Control Panel, double-click Display.
Click the Desktop tab, and choose "Customize Desktop".
Select the "Web" tab
Delete all the items except "My current Home page"
Uncheck "My current Home page"
Click OK, and now select a Desktop background
Click OK and close the dialog.
