Post subject: Desktop Shortcuts
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>help_and_support (more info?)

Hi: This is my first time here.
I have an old desktop shortcut on my laptop, leading to a network
location on which I have archived some files.
The company has changed servers, and I cannot access the old servers,
however, the old servers are still accessible by the administrator. If
I can supply the full path of the shortcut to him, he can get me the old
files.
The shortcut Properties only supplies me with a Truncated version of
the shortcut, and I will need a full path, as my files are about 10 sub
folders into the server. We have tried a search for some file names but
have come up empty.
There must be some way to find the full path name of my shortcut.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Rightclick the shortcut, then Properties.

Mark:
The properties window only gives a truncated version of the shortcut
path, not the full path.
The shortcut path reads \\Aw-acon\Data\Archived Files
The actual path being up to 8 or 10 levels of folders. I expect that
the dash in Aw-acon is an abbreviation for several other levels of
folders that will not fit in the path window.
I am looking for the full path name, which must be somewhere in the
computer.

I have tried this as well, but since this server is no longer on the
network, when I try to Find The Target, I receive an error message
saying Path Not Found.
