I cannot find any way to create a custom color scheme in
XP Pro if I use the XP style for windows and buttons. I
despise the blue, olive, and silver choices that the XP
style provides, but I don't necessarily want to go back
to the Windows classic style. Any suggestions?

Try using "Windowblinds" from Stardock. I find ProjectX is kind to the eyes
if you use the PC for any length of time.

There are hundreds, nay thousands, of third-party themes available from
www.themexp.org. However, by default Windows XP will only accept and use
"signed" (i.e, approved by Microsoft) themes. There are two ways around this
restriction:

1) purchase StyleXP, from www.tgtsoft.com - the official, supported option,
or
2) go to http://www.lightstar1.com/install.htm and follow the instructions.

Hope this helps?
