Hi group,

Every few days my friend's computer will display a connect prompt screen
asking for user name and password to connect to 'a303.x.a.yimg.com' She
doesn't recognize that address and doesn't recall installing any software
related to that. I did a Google search and got no results. Has anyone else
seen this before? Any ideas what it is?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Limonzitos

All we can really tell you is that yimg.com belongs to Yahoo! so perhaps
the domain is to a Yahoo image-hosting site.

If this rings a bell for her, great. If not, she should do the normal
scanning for malware. See this link for steps:

If the machine is clean and the problem persists, she should see what is
starting with Windows:

Check Task Scheduler and see if there is a Task Job there.
Also check the Startup groups.
Globally search the registry for the web-site name.

she's running LaunchCast, a music service provided by Yahoo. I'll try to
find out more from Yahoo.

Thanks everyone for the input,
