Hi guys, for some reason, COD4 lags extremly on my laptop even though I
have 2 GB ram and a GeForce 8400 GS graphic card and run Sins of a Solar
Empire and Medieval 2 Total war on almost all High Graphics. Thanks.

It's a laptop, how can he get something better unless the card is modular?
(doubtful).
But what Ferjero989 said is more or less the case, your video card, while a
higher end notebook card, is still pretty substandard for games like Call
of Duty 4.
Try dropping your video card settings as low as possible. See if that
helps.

yeah as Michael said, lol, I cant really do better on this laptop. I was
wondering, if I imporve my ram to 4GB will that make things any better?
I got a 2.2 GHZ Duo processor if that helps.

i been saying to lower the resolution since my second post.. if you want
to play on ur laptop you have to lower the resolution of the game..
now.. thats not an insult its a pulp fiction line.. told by
'_Samuel_L._Jackson_' (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000168/) .. which
means... if you get insulted BY samuel l jackson, or get insulted like
samuel L jackson you should be glad.
anyways... LOWER THE RESOLUTION OF THE GAME!
you can do that by going into the games options..

Well a CRT monitor (non-flat) can change the size of the pixels on the
screen, so if you run the game at a really low resolution, it'll look
better on a CRT than it does on a LCD monitor. The LCD monitor has to fill
in pixels else the image would be really small. This is usually
accomplished with blurring techniques that have a less than desired effect.
With LCD monitors you want to run it at the highest resolution possible
when you can, else you get this blurring effect that just doesn't look that
great.
Most video drivers have an option to turn off zooming, the downside is if
you run your monitor at lower resolutions the image gets smaller.

Ok thanks for the help everyone. Since we are on this, I have a problem
with connecting on Hamachi with Medieval 2 total war. Other games
connect on hamachi normally, but with medieval2, I cant even see others
in the lobby. Help would be much appreciated.

On a side note, I have allowed it through the firewall and configured
the preferances folder that I have in the game directory, and still no
good. My friend has XP, did the same process as I and his works
perfectly, I was wondering if this problem happens in other games and if
there is a solution.
