Hello,
I am visiting here for my first time, that's not to say that I am new to
computers, just new here!
I am having a serious delay time problem whenever I burn a CD or DVD in
either my "E:\ or F:\" drives. It could delay up to 20 minutes or more at
times. From a fresh boot is when the delay is the shortest. If I am burning
more than once the delays seem to get longer. Once the burn starts, all seems
normal as far as burning times. I get good clean burns. Only problem is the
long delay from when I click "Burn".
I am using a PC with a 3.4 GHz Dual Core w\1GB ram, 2 large HD's, 2 cd and
dvd burners.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

It doesn't matter. I use Nero, Power ISO, CloneDVD, etc.

It doesn't matter?
You say you are having issues with two different burners in a single
system - making it less likely to be a hardware failure of the drives as
well as you mention you are burning both CDs and DVDs (making it NOT a
Windows XP innate issue as Windows XP cannot burn DVDs natively) --> So I
have to politely disagree. It matters greatly. As it is likely the
installation of one of those applications that likely caused/is still
causing your issues (or at least their effects.)
Since you say you are not 'new to computers', have you ever created a BartPE
CD? Do you think you might be able to use a different system and create one
(BartPE boot CD) with a CD/DVD burning application on it and boot your
system with that (using the oldest drive to do the booting first) and then
try utilizing the burning application from the BartPE boot to burn a CD/DVD?
That would eliminate hardware altogether and point to something having
corrupted your system software.
Also - can you try the drives in a different system?

I have never created a "BartPE CD".
I have my laptop here that I can use to create it. As far as trying the
drives on a different system I don't have another system here that works to
try them with. The drives are both internal.
Thanks again for your input!

I would wonder if the drive is working correctly. Have you run any
diagnostics?

No, not to this point because the exact same thing is happening to both
drives. If it was just one I would suspect a drive problem.
If you still think it's necessary, please suggest a diagnostic program.
Thank you!
