Post subject: Backup Wizard
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>newusers (more info?)

I want to back up the entire hard drive on my laptop to an external hardrive.
The only choice that looks right is "backup everything on this computer" but
of course then the contents of the external hard drive are also included in
the backup. After saving a couple of backups on the external hard drive, the
capacity of the external hard drive is exceeded. How can I back up the
entire contents of the C: drive to the external hard drive without this
problem? THANKS

Assuming you're talking about the ntbackup program, either
1. Don't use the wizard and manually select your internal drive and system
state or
2. In the wizard chose Backup selected files, drives, or network data and
on the next screen select my computer, then your internal drive and system
state.
