Post subject: Adobe Flash nag on vista
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>general (more info?)

Every time I open a webpage i get the following message
Warning message when you upgrade Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer 7
on a Windows Vista-based computer: "This program will open outside of
Protected mode"

Microsoft have been useless in helping me out by passing me onto my Pc
manufacturer, and gues swhat my pc manufacturer passed me straight back onto
microsoft.

Reference for this problem is kb 934282 however microsoft have said they
have removed the hotfix and told me to give acer a call.. I am desperate to
fix this problem. Does anyone have any ideas

Download and run the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157

Afterward, right-click on the Internet Explorer icon located on
your Taskbar and select: Run as administrator. Then visit:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=S...kwaveFl

and click on "Install Now".

I'm just curious, maybe you can explain it to me Carey,

I don't actually expect an answer, just "thinking out loud", so to speak.

I've often tried to help people in groups like this and have sometimes been
successful, other times not, but that's not really my question . . .

I just sometimes wonder why I so often see people having a problem with a
third-party application but the first thing they seem to want to do is
contact Microsoft about the problem, instead of the vendor that actually
designed the program they are having trouble with.

I had the same problem with Flash and went right to Adobe's site. Didn't
find the exact problem in their help section, but after searching through
the tips and tricks the instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling to
solve "unlisted" problems was there and it worked just fine. Took me all of
5 minutes to look for, find, and do the repair.
