Post subject: Administrator, functions not allowed
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>customize (more info?)

Several months ago, my stand-alone computer was hit with
3 viruses and a possible trojan horse. I did a complete,
clean, re-install of Windows XP Pro. I don't know if I
entered a wrong answer during the install, but now I
cannot make simple changes as the Administrator. I have
added all updates that have been recommended. When I go
to tools, then click on Options, I get a message saying
that I am not "allowed" to make changes, "please see your
Administrator". I've checked in local security settings,
but am such a newbie, that I don't know what needs
changing! It looks as if I have the correct credentials
as Administrator. My welcome screen shows only one user-
me. If I right click on my ISP, it no longer will allow
me access to make any changes. What have I done wrong?
Please help - - Rick
