Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>general (more info?)

I had to install a new hard drive and I installed the older drive to be able
to move files under my documents folder. The problem now is that when I try
to expand that drive under Explorer it indicates that the access is denied.
The names of the folders are different?

Any suggestions as to why this is occurring and how to fix it would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all!!

When I right click on the folder there is no security tab, so how can I
change the ownership?

If Windows XP Home Edition, the Security TAB or Access Control
listings are only available from a Safe Mode boot. To take ownership
on Home Edition you'll need to do it from Safe Mode.

You need to seize ownership of these folders. Click Start / Help,
then look for help on Ownership.

As for WinXP Home, R. McCarty gave you the clue. As for WinXP Pro,
Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Use simple file sharing > untick.
Note that you need the NTFS file system and administrative privileges.
