Post subject: cannot sync with laptop
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc>activesync (more info?)

I have HTC TYTNII with Windows Mobile 6 Pro CE OS 5.2.1620(build 18125.0.4.2)
and I have on my laptop Windows Vista Home Permium SP1 Edition
Windows Mobile Center File version 6.0.5824.16387
I have wirelss lan with gateway 10.0.0.138 usually IP address range 10.0.0.1
to 10.0.0.13
wired lan is set to obtain IP & DNS automatic
this system was working ok with me for few weeks until I had to re-install
my laptop from that time I couldn't sync my HTC with the laptop except for
one time with mistake and could't re-connect it again since then.
I done every thing even to do hard reset to my HTC with no way to connect to
the laptop all what I get all the time "cannot obtain a server assigned ip
address try again later or enter an ip address in network settings" actually
when I connect the usb to laptop the icon for usb device appear for a sec in
the task bar then disappear when I remove enable advanced networking from my
mobile settings it complete connection as HTC USB but it says you need
activesync 4.5 which is not applicable for vista.
I have done a check with IPCONFIG I found that the microsoft windows mobile
remote adapter is active wit IPV4 address set to 169.254.2.2 subnet
255.255.255.0 DHCP server 169.254.2.1 and when I done pinging to 169.254.2.1
I recived reply from 169.254.2.1 bytes =32 time=5ms TTL=128 for four times so
its connected
but why mobile sync software complete as it was doing before or even define
the HTC mobile as connected device I don't know
I hope some one can help me and I tried every thing from assigning fixed IP
to the HTC and even to the PC but never managed to connect again!!!
