The device does *not* use power because ActiveSync is running unless it's
connected to the PC. If it *is* connected to the PC, it should be getting
powered/charged by the PC. If it's not connected to the PC, the standard
power settings determine what it does, including when it suspends, etc.
ActiveSync sitting there in the running programs list is *not* using any
power.
If the device runs out of charge overnight, you either have a battery
problem, which won't be fixed by stopping ActiveSync, or you have your
settings on the device or some program *other than ActiveSync* on the device
preventing it from going to sleep when it's not in use. ActiveSync starts
automatically on my device, too, and, unless I'm using the screen
continuously, browsing the Web, etc., with it, it will last for days without
doing dead. I just don't pay any attention to ActiveSync because it doesn't
affect anything unless I connect to a PC (or to an Exchange server, but I
presume you don't have server sync configured, right?) Maybe there's a
problem with running the Media Player and leaving it in the paused state or
something, but ActiveSync is not the source of the problem you describe.
