All -
Actually, that's incorrect. You should be able to house both your
annotations and your litpath.lpt file anywhere your books are. If you open
a book by tapping/clicking on a title housed on your SD card a litpath.lpt
file will be created in the same folder as your books. An annotations
folder will then be created there as well that should house all of your .ebo
files. This is why we tell those that are having trouble with their PPC
Readers to look for ALL instances of litpath.lpt because this file can be
created in multiple places depending on how your books are organized and
opened. We created the structure this way envisioning that some folks might
want to access their books from network shares or other writable media.
If this is not the case then we would definately like to hear more about it
as it will likely require further investigation.
If you have any questions please feel free to respond and I will be happy to
assist you further.
Sincerely,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team

CeeBee,
What version of PPC are you running on your hx4700? I have one of those
here and would like to try a repro.

I personally cannot get it to open the litpath anywhere but the main memory
and when the litpath is over a MB it takes too much of my system resources.
No wonder the thing would not multi task correctly and was forever opening
things up. I had stripped all the extra programs until I discovered that it
was the litpath taking up all the extra memory. I also notice that the
reader would fluxuate the litpath file and I would be on page 10 of the
library and then suddenly I would be on page 3. I then discovered that this
litpath was changing sizes.
I have a Dell Axim x50v,Windows Mobile 2003 second edition version 4.21.1088
(build 14260.2.05) using MS Reader 2.4.1 (build5323) .

Ditto here.
ALL my ebooks are on my CF card. The litpath is on the main memory.
hx 2490b
Latest Reader, Wm5
I thought I would try a trick, and cut 'n paste my litpath file into
my ebook folder on my CF card, where the books are.
As soon as I did that, and opened up MS reader. It rebuilt the
litpath file in main memory, and ignored the one in the ebooks
folder.....
I wonder if this explains why or is related to why my annotations
don't work....

It really sounds like you guys need to make sure you're using the right
version of Reader.
Make sure you're not using the one that came with the device by default, but
the one that you downloaded.
That's right all, installing the new version doesn't overwrite the old one
if its on the system by default.
I'd be willing to bet a ton of cash that if you manually made sure you
opened only the new version that it would work.
I've had a lot of Pocket PC's and this was always the case if this type of
issue were happening.
