Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc>ebooks (more info?)

Hello.

I've recently replaced the hard drive on my laptop and now i need to
re-activate reader.

First off, i thought activations "cycled" in that something I registered a
few years ago would drop off the list and I'd get that quota available again.

Anyway, my point is that I've just tried to activate my laptop again and
I've no quota left. When I try and access the bit that says "retrieve extra
quota", I get a 500 internal server error - is this new or is it something
that needs to be fixed.

Now, for the slight complication - I expect to be getting a new laptop in a
few weeks - will I have any trouble getting that activated as well
(obviously, the one on this laptop will be removed as I will be using the
dell restore discs to wipe the machine before I put it on ebay).

So, can anyone help me out?

Cheers,
Tony.

Tony:

Unfortunately activations don't get cycled as you anticipated. You care
eligible for an additional activation every 180 days to accomodate any
addtional machine acquisitions.

The 500 Internal Server Error page you received is a bug in our current
system. We are working on streamlining the process and hope to have the
process updated by early Fall.

In the meantime if you continue to receive this error once you receive your
new laptop please feel free to contact me offline with your passport email
address and I will do my best to expedite your request.

Thank you,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team
