alright, I have had enough of "get it now". It's more like get hosed now.
What do I need to do and buy if I want to make and install my own ringtones
on my verizon v710?

If MIDI is your desire...

>find a midi file
>save it to your hard drive
>go to www.vzwpix.com
>open an account and choose the "upload media" tab
>upload the one you want (and do a bunch of others too just 'cause you
can)
>create a message - I like to give myself a full 60 seconds on the
slide show for each ringer
>send it to yournumber.DeleteThis@vzwpix.com
>when you get it you have the choice of "saving as a ringtone"... Very Happy

OR

Another method.... use your puter to save it to your transflash card,
create a message to an unusable number (555-555-5555 for example) and
insert the file. The message will fail - but when you browse the
ringtones next time you'll find the one you tried to send' on the list
of available choices ... you can delete the fake message from your
outbox.

I failed to say "use a program (like the free one at
www.anvilstudio.com) to cut the midi file to less than 60 seconds"
