Got a really strange problem - we have two laptops, one with a Kyocera
KCP650 card, another with a Sierra PC5220. Both running the latest version
5.1 VZWAccess software. Doesn't matter if it's in 1xRTT or EVDO territory.
Tried in two different cities. Using Outlook or Outlook Express to connect
to our corporate mail servers to send (SMTP protocol) mail on port 366, the
transaction never completes. Outlook will show the "sending message bar",
it progresses to 100%, then stalls. If I telnet to the mail server port
366, I can manually talk to the mail server and get responses back. I've
uninstalled Venturi to see if that makes a difference, and it didn't.
Anybody else seen this problem?

Software and hardware are irrelevant....
It's not a problem if you have subscribed to and paid for EVDO data
service.....if that's the case, dial 611 and have them "fix" it...
If you don't have a separate data service account, you can connect and
receive, but you cannot send....

All I can say is it works for me. I even tried using my gmail account POP
because it uses non standard ports like your company. All okay there too.
All using Outlook.
I suspect that you need to go into your Outlook config and check the block
that says "my server requires authentication", or similar, and try again.

Seem to have solved the problem. Both machines had AVG Free anti-virus
installed, I suspect something was funky with AVG's email scanner and
Verizon Access manager. Uninstalled AVG Free, replaced with Avast!
anti-virus, downloaded and installed latest VZAccess manager (v5.3.9 1230a)
and all is well again.

> Where did you d/l the VZAccess Manager from?
Go to www.vzw.com > Support > Wireless Data and the Kyocera FAQ pops up.
Click on the "how do I download the VZAccess manager software"
....or... you can go direct to the download site:
http://vzw.smithmicro.com/download/
You need to know the "phone number" of the card before downloading -- they
do some kind of validation before permitting the download.
