Post subject: using iFunBox for backups
Archived from groups: misc>phone>mobile>iphone (more info?)

I will use this thread for notes about using the jailbreak
application iFunBox for iPhone backups instead of wading through
iTunes. If this is too technical, or you are just not interested,
please feel free to ignore the thread. Any constructive
comments/contributions from others will be appreciated.

Apparently the folder of interest is the "Raw File System".
Rebooting after restoring files might be necessary. One concern is
whether backup files will be tied to the current firmware
revision.

For example.

Apparently contacts are backed up by simply copying the two files
in the folder //User/Library/AddressBook (fortunately, iFunBox
allows copying the path simply through the right-click pop-up
menu). After the copy back, reboot.

Ringtones appear to be a different animal, no surprise since their
filenames are cryptic.
