I have WiFi at home. I don't have any need to go to a hotspot to
download any large apps if I encounter any. The limit has not caused me
any problems or inconvenience. I have 60 apps and have yet to even have
a download rejected because of the limit. And when I travel every hotel
I have stayed at over the last five years has had WiFi. Every cruise
ship too.

That's not the point. I too have Wi-Fi. Not everyone does. So for the people
that don't can't get apps bigger then allowed. With a unlimited plan one
should not have to worry about connecting to Wi-Fi.

It is not clear whether it is Apple or AT&T that is behind the absence
of MMS. I have never sent an MMS with my old phone or felt I needed it,
but I think it should be supported as I know quite a few people who use
it. I doubt that any market research would indicate that not enough
people want it.

Of course than can get the apps that are larger than 10MB. They can get
the apps through iTunes on their computer. That is the way I get most
of my apps anyway, not over WiFi or 3G. I go to the app store on
iTunes, download them, and sync them to my iPhone the next time I do a
sync. You don't have to have WiFi.

Yeah, on a computer yes. I'm not talking about a computer or wi-fi. Get it
off your iPhone using your Unlimited data plan. Not going to happen if there
over the limit that AT&T has Imposed. That plan that is unlimited sure has
limits.

How could it possibly be AT&T? Most of the iPhone-using world does not
use AT&T. I suppose that if, for some bizarre reason, AT&T decided
they didn't want to make money from MMS then Apple could have disabled
it just for the USA, but that's not the case.

I don't know anyone who uses it. That doesn't prove that nobody does,
any more than your anecdote shows that lots of people do.

How does it handle streaming YouTube videos? Are they split up or limited to
10MB?

Please do explain how on earth you could possibly reach that
conclusion from a Google search. If you know of some actual
research, please post the URL.

If your going to quote, then do it in the correct way. The above next to my
email is not a quote from me. The one below is. It's hard to tell from this
end who your quoting.

A major amount of iPhone users have asked the question why is it missing.
They also asked when it will be added. Being it's been a year and a half
from when the 1st iPhone was shipped I would say it won't be added. There is
no money in it for apple. I find it strange that someone has not tried to
sell one on the app store. I've been told that apple has said no. (AT&T
store mgr) But who knows. There is a reason it's not offered.

Even some of the most basic free phones offered have MMS.

Very popular sites, like YouTube, must be allowed with special software to
differentiate it. The bean counters have determined WAY too many paying
customers would tell carriers to shove it up their asses if they prevented
YouTube, Facebook, Flickr, etc., from working. So, carriers identify the
calls to these sites and shut down the hobbling to them. MSNBC clips
play...your local TV streamer doesn't.

So, we make this work ad an ad campaign to make us look great. We create
special "software" to make the experience so wonderful...making us heros,
not the goats we are....

Joost worked for me.
AmI lucky or what?

Maybe I know how to install flaky apps?

One great iPhone game is FieldRunners ($5). That would be neat on a
large screen PC too. It is well designed to take advantage of the
unique features of the iPhone multi touch screen.

I see you are in the UK. Maybe it is a US thing? A couple of them I
know who used it have gotten iPhones and commented to me about no MMS.
It is the only feature that anyone I know with an iPhone has commented
to me about. None has mentioned copy and paste.

Sorry, it's not my job to teach you how to read standard Usenet
quoting. I'm sure your amazing powers of Googling can find you
a beginner's guide though if you're having problems.

And this translates to a percentage of iPhone users how, precisely?

That's quite possible, yes. There are definitely cultural differences
in these things - for example, the Japanese use the "emoji" emoticons
that were added in 2.2, but as I understand it, nobody else does.
Americans use SMS messages much more rarely than Europeans, I am told.
