Coming from a Palm, not even close. I see a calendar, but not much else
of use to me.

Oh. If you have Palm already setup just use the Garnet VM:

http://www.access-company.com/products/gvm/

It runs in portrait mode or landscape, now, so it's bigger and all your
Palm software will run on it just fine but with more space. They keep
upgrading the virtual machine every little while so check back when someone
else finds a bug or feature that needs fixing. The Maemo community gets it
free doing all of Access' testing for them. It's very useful on a Nokia
tablet.

Yes, but (AIUI) Palm alarms tend to crash the VM, which is less than useful.
Believe me, I fully evaulated the n810 before concluding it just wasn't
there for me yet.

I don't use Palm a lot. My business uses use Open Office like Abiword,
Gnumeric, etc., the most. I don't keep a calendar or other moving lists on
it as I regularly connect using rdesktop to Windows Desktop on the XP box
in my office, letting the big PC do the heavy lifting. It's always there
as it is always online, especially now that I have donated two of my XP
boxes for use with World Community Grid from Harvard/IBM. They're helping
search for new molecules to make better solar panels.

I guess you could call it "cloud computing" on a micro scale...(c;
