Post subject: Upgrading Nokia 2610 Prepaid Phone to Motorola V195 ? Archived from groups: alt>cellular>t-mobile (more info?)
|
|
|
I have a Nokia 2610 prepaid which I would like to upgrade to get Blue
tooth and Quad band. The T-Mobile Prepaid site has the Motorola V195
which appears to have what I need. The other choice is a Samsung Black
Stripe Both are $29.95. Are they both equally as good?
I assume I will be able to remove my SIM card from the Nokia and
transfer it to the new phone. In so doing, I believe my phone number and
any minutes I have left will be transferred to the new phone. Is that right?
I don't spend more than $50 a year on usage so whatever I get won't be
used very much. |

According to the T-Mobile Web site, the Samsung phone is only tri-band.

Thanks for pointing that out. It appears that the Samsung does not have
900mhz which might be a problem on my extremely rare trips to France or
Greece.

I have a pair of V195s which are solid, capable phones, if a bit bulky
for carrying in the pocket. When I joined the ranks of those who were
chained to their mobile phones, I picked up a cheap V3.

My wife has a V330. Do you know how that compares in size (bulkiness) to
the V195? |

It looks like the V330 is fractionally thicker at 1" than the V195 at
0.9". It's also slightly wider, at 1.93" vs. 1.8", but slightly shorter
at 3.5" vs. 3.6".
Close enough that I'd say they're the same size.
