As per reports from our respective customers, this type of connection also
works. That plug, which looks similar to 'mini-USB' is directly connected
with the same contacts as the contacts under the battery.If you are using
USB cable, please, don't forget to install virtual COM port emulation
driver. Virtual COM port emulation driver creates new COM port in your
system, so you can use it in our program.
If you haven't got any CD with the cable, you can try these drivers:

Most of such thirdparty cables from China are based on PL-2303 chipset.
