Post subject: Transferring data between Nokia 5000 & a PC
Archived from groups: alt>cellular>nokia (more info?)

I have just bought a Nokia 5000. It is my first camera phone. I've managed
to take some nice photos & would like to transfer them to my PC. But I
havn't worked out how to do this. A cable for connecting the phone to the
computer was not included with the phone. The spec says data transfer is by
(I quote):-
.. GPRS Class B, Multi-slot class 10

.. EGPRS multislot class 6 (support downlink only)

.. DARP (Downlink Advanced Receiver Performance) for enhanced network
efficiency

I fear this lot doesn't mean much to me.

My PC accesses the internet by a VIRGIN MEDIA ethernet connection. The PC is
a Packard Bell 2770 UK Desk PC & is less than 2 years old. I believe it has
wirefree capability but so far I've stuck with the direct cable connection.

Any advice on my next steps (please remember I am a beginner!)?

Thanks

Ron

Usually Nokia camera phones come with a USB cable, is it
a new phone out of an unopened box?
Not familiar with that particular model, but wonder if it has
Bluetooth? Maybe that is how they expect you to download
images.
Just checked
http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/5000
I was right, it says Bluetooth, with no mention of USB under
Connectivity.
So I guess you need a PC with a Bluetooth card or connectivity.
Then your only problem is getting them to talk.
It also says
Local Connectivity Bluetooth
Nokia AV 2.5mm
So did you get a cable with a 2.5mm plug?
If so that might be what it is for.
Not knowing exactly what came with the camera, and was there
a manual? I can't help further, but hope this will get you
started on sorting it out.
