| I live in the East Bay, have a TDMA phone (AT&T) and seems like coverage is
getting worse.
(Can't use phone at home at all). I don't want to stay with Cingular but
have 1 year left on contract with big (2 line) ETF of $350!
Anyone got out of contract because poor / diminished coverage?

Or he could do what they want him to do - upgrade phones and service to
GSM. Since he's actually considering paying the ETF, I'd considering
that to be a lot cheaper to do.

Send Cingular a (polite) demand letter asking that documents the "poor /
diminished coverage" and asks either (a) that it be corrected in a reasonable
period of time with credit for the problem in the meantime or (b) that you be
released from your contract for non-performance by Cingular. Since (a)
probably isn't going to happen, you'll want the letter to buttress your
position for (b), which if the carrier resists, may be facilitated by a
complaints to the BBB and other consumer protection resources.
