I am just posting this since I feel I was screwed. I recently cancelled my
Sprint account. I was billed the early termination fee of $200.00. I can
live with that.
I was charged $22.54 in "Government Taxes & Fees" for early termination
(maybe 6 months early in a 2 year commitment). Sprint was emphatic in
stating that I should take my concern up with my local government. That
advice is a euphamism for saying: "you are leaving us, we found we could
charge you for this, so deal with it." If "the government" came in and said
to Sprint "we want the taxes on the service that the customer would have
paid for services he didn't receive" that would almost make more sense to
me. I know anyone signing a contract now would pay a much lower amount for a
prorated early termination fee, and I am fine with that. I am not happy with
Sprint charging me $ for services I didn't receive, on top of the early
termination fee of $200.00. I hope they stay in business to offer
competition to any other company I go to. Beyond that, they can become a
third rate company for all I care.
