Post subject: SIM cards
Archived from groups: alt>cellular>t-mobile (more info?)

I was thinking of upgrading from my Moto phone to a new, PDA style
phone, possibly G1, and am wondering if I could use the same SIM card in
the new one without losing any of the functionality in the new phone
that would come with a new SIM card. I know I can store phone numbers in
a SIM card but I don't know what else might be stored in it by T-Mo that
could be specific to some functionality of the phone that it comes with.
Can somebody answer this?
Thanks,
p j

I don't know. But when I moved from a D&G RAZR to the G1, I just put
the old SIM card in the new phone...no problems.

I guess that answers my concern, thanks. Just one more question: did you
get your G1 with a new SIM card which you then replaced with the old
one, or you got the G1 without a SIM card with it? I wonder if there is
some discount on G1 without a new SIM card.
Thanks,
pj

My girlfriend & I got ours the day before they were released to the
public. Neither of us were issued new SIM cards.

The G1 is a great phone. We both love 'em. They've got some work to do
on them, my primary complaint being poor Bluetooth support for use in
the car. But call quality is excellent, and it's just a cool phone.
