Post subject: A Phone for an old lady?
Archived from groups: alt>cellular>sprintpcs (more info?)

My wife needs a new phone, and we are both at a loss for the best phone for
her needs. She needs a good phone for fringe reception in the boondocks,
and she wants internet access for checking Webmail. GPS would be nice, but
not a deal-breaker.

Her old RAzR has just about croaked, and I got her a BlackBerry Curve for
Christmas. However, she says the BlackBerry's keypad is too small and hard
to read/use.

We tried an Instinct at the Sprint store, and she liked it better as far as
being able to dial and surf, but the interface with all the other options
was confusing. Also, I don't want to get buried with a data everything plan
that costs us out the wazoo every month.

Any ideas for us? The more we look and the more we read, the more we
realize we are getting confused.

Thanks

So far the BEST phones I have seen for fringe receptions are the SANYOs...
Have you looked at the new Sanyo ECLIPSE X?
It has GPS, but I am not sure it is 'open' like other phones are where
something like Google Maps can use it.
My son has the Eclipse X. When I picked it up to use, the menus did not seem
as intuitive as other Sanyo's...
We are running that phone on and old, old grandfathered plan with the old
unlimited Vision..

New Phone - My wife wants a new phone, doesn't like her Sanyo 4920, candy bar type phone. She wants a flip phone, no need for camera, games, web. Just a plain phone that has good audio and holds a connection. I first looked at the SCP-3100 but saw some negative..
