I'm looking for a reliable and relatively cheap prepaid phone plan,
and I'd like some feedback from those who are "in the know" on this.

I've used Tracfone in the past and have been largely satisfied with
them, but their minutes seem to be more expensive than others. I've
heard that T-Mobile or Virgin and Cingular/AT&T offer some good plans
with offers for free phones (and maybe some free minutes) after
rebates or something.

I don't use the phone much at all, so 1000 minutes or so should last
me 6-12 months.

Does anyone know of any good deals going on right now where I could
get a reliable prepaid phone with a good rate on minutes?

Thanks in advance!

(if there are better groups for this topic, please direct me...forgive
my ignorance!)

My wife and I use T-Mobile. We were on the old $19/mo. plan and didn't use
many minutes so switched to prepaid and were able to use our old phones.
You can purchase prepaid phones at Walmart. or almost any discount
department store. We've been paying $100 for 1000 minutes and whatever is
left at the end of the year carries over. On one of our phones we didn't use
many minutes this year so will probably only do $50 this year. Once you
purchase $100 worth of minutes you go on their gold plan and can carry any
amount for a year and carry over unused minutes.
