How's wi-fi reception on the macbook pro?
I've had a 13" iBook G4 (white plastic) and a 15" powerbook G4
(aluminum). The WIFI reception on the iBook was great; the powerbook
NOT so good. Probably the aluminum interfered with reception. Others
share the same issue, so it was not just my particular machine.
Anyone know what the WIFI reception is like on the new 15" (aluminum)
macbook pro vs 13"(plastic) mackbook?
Thanks,
Larry |

Get the macbook if wireless reception is at all an issue.

I don't know about WiFi reception, but the fact that the MacBook Pro has
real, dedicated video graphics as opposed to the yucky on-board Intel
GMA integrated graphics on the MacBook is plenty justification for the
MBP, in my book.

But the issue is wireless reception, and the macbook blows the pro
away in that department.
Integrated graphics are fine for many uses, are easier on the battery
and Intel graphics are the best if you happen to run linux on your
machine. (which some do.)

>Thanks all. As it turned out, I got a good deal on a 15" MacBook Pro 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. It's the same vintage as my daughter's 13" white MacBook. I'm very glad to have it. Nonetheless, the 13" MacBook excells at WiFi reception; the 15" MacBook Pro takes much longer to find the network and registers a weaker signal. As some pointed out, the MacBook Pro has other features.
There is one problem with the Pro, however: flakey optical drive.
More about that on my next new post
